We welcomed Mercury Racing back to the Outboard Performance Craft (OPC) category of boat racing by accepting three new competition outboard engines to our racing classes.

1) An additional engine choice; the brand new APX 200, is now legal in our Formula 200 and Powerboat Championship F1 class. Rated at more than 200 horsepower, the 200 APX outboard offers tunnel boat racers a very durable powerhead and the latest in four-stroke engine technology in the most-potent V6 outboard package to ever leave the Mercury Racing shop. The 200 APX is designed specifically to do battle APBA OPC as well as on UIM F2 tunnel boat circuits and international endurance events.

2) A new engine, the 60 EFI Formula Race, is now legal in the SST 60 spec class. The package packs a throaty fuel-injected punch. This low-emissions, four-stroke competition outboard is also a specified engine of the U.I.M. Formula-4S Powerboat World Championship, inshore closed-course racing conducted in conjunction with the F1H2O U.I.M. World Championship series.

3) Last but not least, APX 360, is now legal for OPC Mod U competition. This incredible 4.6-liter V8 powerhead is naturally aspirated and features deep-breathing double overhead cam/four-valve architecture with a short-runner intake manifold mated to a cold-air induction system. An 11:1 compression ratio boosts torque output while the 7000 RPM redline extends the power curve. A dynamic oil pickup system is designed to maintain critical engine oil pressure under high-G loads.

These new engines will catapult OPC boat racing into the future with four-stroke propulsion and easier maintenance without disrupting parity in the current classes.
